GENERAL INFORMATION - REVISED - 08.02.09 A. All games will be conducted by the 2009 ASA Official Rules of Softball (no exceptions). B. MANAGERS’ MEETING: Friday, August 7 at 4:00 p.m. at the Kiest Recreation Center. A light meal will be served, followed by a review of tournament rules and procedures. Attendance is limited to no more than 2 representatives per team (e.g. manager and sponsor). Teams are strongly encouraged to have a representative present. Managers will be responsible for all information covered in the meeting whether or not they are present.C. OPENING CEREMONIES Saturday, August 8 at 8:00 a.m. at the Kiest Park Softball Complex D. OPENING GAMES Saturday, August 8 at 9:00 a.m. E. ADMISSION An entry fee will be charged on a daily basis. All persons entering the complex must have an official tournament wristband. Entry fees are: Adults $5.00 Children (6 years and older) $3.00 Seniors (over 60) $3.00 Children under 5 Free F. AWARDS 1st – 3rd team trophies 1st and 2nd team All-Tournament 1st, 2nd individual awards Championship Jackets Batting Champion Home Run Champion Tournament MVP G. PLAYER IDENTIFICATION CHECK-IN All players participating in the tournament must sign in prior to playing in their first game. SIGN-IN will begin at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday morning at the Kiest Softball Complex and continue throughout the tournament. Players MUST provide a valid picture ID. H. FORMAT Double elimination - 7 innings (no time limit) I. GAME TIMES Posted bracket is the official bracket and takes priority over any other bracket. Game time is forfeit time. Teams should be prepared to start a game once the preceding game is completed. J. ASSIGNED DUGOUTS In all games (unless back-to-back), the team listed on the top of the bracket will occupy the 1st base dugout. The team listed on the bottom of the bracket will occupy the 3rd base dugout. K. RULES OF NOTE:
L. UNIFORMS All players on a team shall properly wear uniforms that are alike in color and style, with a legal number on the back. Players shall not display the names and/or logos of any other softball association on their uniforms. Either short or long pants may be worn but all must be the same color. The following items are not required to be worn, but if worn, each like item must match in color: caps or visors, sliding pants, or undershirts. Coaches must be neatly attired or dressed in the team uniform. M. LINE-UPS Tournament officials will provide official ASA line-up cards for each team. An official line-up must be submitted to the scorekeeper at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled game time. Must include first name, last name, jersey number and position. N. INFIELD PRACTICE No infield practice will be permitted. Warm-up is allowed in designated areas only. O. BENCH AREA As per ASA rules, only players, coaches, sponsors and a “bat boy” are allowed in the bench and dugout area. P. PROTESTS The tournament committee will decide all protests. Managers are obligated to be familiar with the rules of the game and proper protest procedures. Q. CONDUCT Managers and coaches are asked to have complete control of their players and fans both on and off the field. Any report of damage from hotel management will be dealt with by the tournament committee. R. BAT TESTING As per ASA rules, bats will be inspected by the umpires prior to each game. Any bats not on the ASA Approved Bat List will be confiscated and held in the Tournament Headquarters Office until that team is eliminated from the tournament. Any player discovered using an altered bat will be called out and disqualified from further tournament competition for a minimum of one year. ASA shall have the right to take possession of a bat that is, in the sole discretion of the Tournament Committee, reasonably suspected to be an altered bat. In the event the suspected altered bat is tested and determined to be an altered bat, then the player shall surrender ownership of the altered bat to ASA; otherwise a bat of equal or greater value, in the sole discretion of ASA, shall be returned to the player. A team that is discovered using or having within its possession or control an altered bat may be disqualified from further tournament competition. S. SOUVENIRS Souvenirs will be for sale throughout the weekend near the complex entrance. T-shirts, towels, caps, visors, lip balms and neck coolers will be available for purchase. T. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES / PETS / ICE CHESTS / OUTSIDE FOOD By City Ordinance, no alcoholic beverages are allowed in the Complex or on park property. Pets are not allowed in the softball complex. Ice chests and outside food may not be brought into the softball complex. U. LOST AND FOUND Articles “lost” and/or “found” will be stored in the Tournament Headquarters Office until claimed or until the end of the tournament. Confiscated bats will also be stored in the Tournament Office until the end of the tournament or until its owner’s team has been eliminated from the tournament. V. PARKING Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the complex, on the street, by the picnic area, and on the other side of the park. If parking on the street, please park head in and DO NOT park on the grass. W. TRAFFIC Highway traffic from the Embassy Suites to Kiest Park may be very heavy on Friday afternoon between 2:00 and 7:00. Please allow plenty of time to get to the ballpark.
